Perils Of Guilt

Perils Of Guilt

Mitch: (Scrolling Through eMail) "Does anyone want to work at the Sexual Assault Crisis Hotline this summer?"

James: “Hell no."

Billy: “No. How much does it pay?”

Mitch: “Ten dollars an hour.”

James: “That’s not bad at all.”

Billy: “No, it’s not. And, uhhh (sarcasm) yeah, that could be a good place to meet vulnerable women!"

James: “Yeah, but its also a good place to meet women who put out for a guy, but feel guilty about it and then in a misguided and dramatic attempt to protect herself from developing a reputation as a slut, she cries rape”

Mitch: (looks on with mild contempt, but interest while spinning through iTunes)

Billy: “That’s ridiculous! . . .But kind of true. I mean…there ARE real victims."

James: “No doubt, but it’s probably in poor taste to hit on them. Plus those girls don’t really want to be like . . .touched. . .or looked at, they cry a lot. . .and eh. . ."

Billy: (Interrupting) “That’s sick! You’re sick.”

James: “Ha ha, maybe, I speak only truth, and you know it!”

Billy: "Really though, it’s a shame that women who feel guilty do shit like that, it takes away from the real problem.”

James: “You mean women that are really getting assaulted and need real help?”

Billy: “Yeah”

James: “I agree.”

Mitch: “Hell yeah. That’s seriously fucked up.”

Billy: “Guilt gets in the way of people having a good time in general. Like, people avoid things they like because they will feel guilty about it."

Mitch: (Turns away from iTunes) “Yeah, and when they do finally give in to something they want, and even if their actions aren’t actually harmful, their guilt creates a false need for consequences; which always includes but is seldom limited to ending the pursuit of things they enjoy."

James: “Not only are people failing to give into things they like and want, but these social constructs are punishing those who are are audacious enough to violate antiquated and harmful social mores."

Mitch: "Yeah!"

Billy: (nods) "Pretty much."

James: “So I dunno. What do we do about that?”

Billy: "I guess all you can do is try to hang out with people who are down with things you’re down with without isolating yourself so much that you’re just kind of around the same kind of people all the time."

Mitch: "I guess."

Girl 1: So that guy last night? Oh it feels like a toddler would if he tried to fuck me

Girl 2: Ha ha ha! Toddler!?

Girl 1: You know a toddler, reckless, self serving, exploitative but unsmooth.

Girl 2:Yes, ugh.

Girl 1: Like the toddler is just interested how things work for the most part. Like he was all pinching, poking, biting, twisting and shit like I'm some fucking busy-box in his crib.

Girl 2: Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Girl 1: Like people who sit in the interior of a car at a dealership. They are like "oh oh, how you put the seat up. . .oh oh down here, okay. . . it's different on my car"

Girl 3: Yeah, they don't know where the clit is.

"I Don't Get Beer Goggles. I Get Beer Standards", says Rielly.

James is driving with Mike on the job. This is Mike's first day.

James: "
Well you know once, I got from Muskegon to Lansing in just over an hour."

Mike:
"Ha ha, oh yeah? That's nuts! That's at least 100 miles per hour most of the way."

James: "It was at least 90 most of the way, with clear roads and low traffic. There was this guy in a Dodge Charger whom I caught up with west of Grand Rapids, and I just got behind him and paced him."

Mike: "Plus you have a radar detector, right?."

James: "Oh yeah. That's what I bought with my first tax return when I turned 16. It was probably the best investment I have ever made."

Mike: "Aren't they illegal?"

James: "Nope! Not in Michigan. I guess they are illegal in places like Virginia, Delaware, and Ontatro."

Mike: "Huh! I didn't know that. You probably don't want to get caught with one though! Like, if you got pulled over."

James: "Well, you don't get caught if you have it, you know?"

Mike: "Heh, right."

James: "It's like, you don't want the fuzz to catch you with a piece. You know? But like, if the cop catches you with a piece, you just fucking cap the pig."

Mike: ::SILENCE::

James: You know?

Mike: ". . .right." (Visibly Uncomfortable)

James: "I fucking hate cops, man. They have power issues. They tend to date small statured women, often Asian. You know, someone that could never physically overpower them in bed. Someone that makes them seem...you know, big in comparison."

Mike: ::Shuffles In Seat:: "I guess."

James: "Women cops...I don't know. They are usually pretty heavy. I imagine they have extremely large dildos. Like freakishly fucking huge. You know why?"

Mike: "Why?"

James: "Because they don't respect anything that isn't physically intimidating. Like, painfully physically intimidating for most women. I'm talking, like...the thought of a bruised cervix makes them hot."

Mike: "Yeah?"

James: "Yeah! I don't think you could be interested or successful in law enforcement if you didn't have power issues. It's pretty repulsive actually."

Mike: "I suppose."

James: ::DRINKS FROM FLASK:: This weekday rush traffic is impossible to tolerate without at least a mild buzz. You know?

Mike: ::Sinks Into Seat::
